2.6% drop in the number of visitors in September

 

A total of 797,285 visitors entered the country, of which 448,072 were hikers (56.2%) and 349,213 were tourists (43.8%)





Throughout the month of September, a total of 797,285 visitors entered the country, of which 448,072 were hikers (56.2%) and 349,213 tourists (43.8%). With respect to the month of September last year, as published this Thursday by the Department of Statistics, the number of visitors shows a decrease of 2.6%. In this regard, it should be noted that the number of tourists fell by 0.3% while the number of hikers did so by 4.3%. By country of residence, Spanish and French visitors show a negative variation of 9% and 0.9% respectively, while visitors from other origins increase by 12%.

In cumulative terms of the last twelve months, visitors have presented an increase of 2.9% in relation to the same period of the previous year. Thus, both tourists and hikers show increases of 2.4% and 3.3% respectively. In addition, it should be noted that during this period visitors from other origins have increased by 14.3%, the French have grown by 3.9% and the Spanish have decreased by 1.4%.

On the other hand, from the Department of Statistics it is pointed out that the number of vehicles that entered the country during the month of September was 352,984, which represents a negative percentage change compared to the month of September of the year previously of 0.1%. The total of passenger cars shows a zero percentage increase (88 more vehicles) and that of heavy vehicles a decrease of 3.5%.

Passenger cars from Spain have had a positive percentage change of 2.3%, while for those from France the drop has been 4.2%. Regarding heavy vehicles, there was a negative percentage variation of 3% along the Hispano-Andorra border. As for the Franco-Andorran border, the variation has also been negative by 8.6%.

From January to September 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, there has been an increase of 1% in the total number of vehicles, with an increase of 0.7% of those coming from Spain and 1 .4% of those coming from France.

Finally, the number of vehicles that entered the country during the last twelve months was 4,259,808, which represents a positive variation of 1.7% compared to the same previous period, in which 4,188,289 vehicles entered . Those who have done so through the Spanish-Andorran border have increased by 48,367 units, 1.7% more compared to the same period last year, while those who have entered through the Franco-Andorran border have also done so by 1.7 % (23,152 more units).
